Filming in Bordeaux & the Atlantic Coast
Southwest France offers a striking diversity of landscapes within a compact area. Bordeaux itself is an elegant 18th-caentury city with a thriving cultural scene. Within a short drive, you’ll find Atlantic surf beaches, the tallest sand dune in Europe, pine forests stretching to the horizon, world-famous vineyards, and the Pyrenees mountains along the Spanish border.

Bordeaux:
The city’s golden limestone architecture, riverfront quays (Miroir d’Eau), and La Cité du Vin make it a visually rich urban location. The Saint-Émilion and Médoc wine regions are among the most celebrated in the world — ideal for food, wine, travel, and lifestyle productions. The city is compact and walkable, making it efficient for crew movement and multi-location shoots.
The Atlantic Coast:
The Dune of Pilat (Arcachon Bay) — the tallest sand dune in Europe at 100+ metres. Biarritz and the Basque Country — surf culture, colourful architecture, and proximity to Spain. The endless pine forests of Les Landes. Cap Ferret and the oyster villages of Arcachon Bay. Hossegor and Capbreton — world-class surf locations.
The Pyrenees:
The Pyrenees offer mountain landscapes that differ markedly from the Alps — greener, more rugged, less developed. The Cirque de Gavarnie (UNESCO site), Pic du Midi observatory, and mountain villages provide dramatic natural backdrops. The Pyrenees are also the gateway to the Basque Country, with its distinct culture and language.
Logistics:
Paris to Bordeaux is 2 hours by TGV. Bordeaux has an international airport. Bordeaux to Biarritz is 2h30 by car. We source crew and equipment locally and coordinate logistics across the region.
Permits:
Filming permits are handled at the municipal level. Vineyard and château access requires direct negotiation with property owners — we have established contacts across the major wine-producing areas. National park and protected site authorizations are handled on your behalf.
