Your line producer in France

You keep the creative and the money decisions. We hold the French side: the schedule, the cost report, the crew, the locations and the paperwork, on the ground, from Paris or Cannes, wherever your production goes in France.

01

What a French line producer holds

And who they answer to

A line producer turns a creative plan and a budget into shoot days. On a foreign production in France, that means one person who knows French crew rates and contracts, French permit clocks and French logistics, and who reports to your producer every day.

Zacharie Petit leads line production at FixersInParis. He is a producer and line producer who runs crew, transport, equipment, schedules and the unit on the day, and who moves productions between regions. He is on the ground in Cannes every May. Élie works alongside him on permits, access and editorial questions.

Our angle is simple: we are your line producer on the ground in France, for your production. You or your agency hold the project, the creative and the final budget. We run the French part of it and answer to you.

The schedule is built around the permits, not the other way round

Foreign productions usually build the schedule first and then ask for permits. In France that order costs money. Each authority works on its own clock: a municipal permit 2 to 4 weeks, a departmental road 3 to 5, a motorway concession 4 to 6, a protected coastline 4 to 8, a drone 3 to 6 (all indicative, confirmed per project). A French line producer looks at those clocks first and orders the shoot days so the slowest permits land last. On our sixteen-commune Riviera job in 2026, restructuring who held the permits and filing overlapping requirements together cut the permit cost from €29,900 to €12,900.

Line producer or executive producer

Know which one you need

The two roles are often confused by foreign clients searching for help in France.

A line producer works for your production. They manage the schedule, the budget lines, the crew and the physical side of the shoot. They do not own the project or deliver the finished film. That is what we do at FixersInParis.

An executive producer, in the sense of a company that makes the film for you, takes the brief and delivers the master: development, shoot, post-production, delivery. If that is what you need, our sister company does it.

A production manager sits under the line producer and runs the day-to-day of the production office. On smaller shoots we combine the two roles; on bigger ones Zacharie line produces and a production manager from our team runs the office.

Need the finished film made, not only line produced?

Our sister company Prod is Prod takes a brief and delivers the finished film end to end, post included, as executive producer in Paris.

What does a line producer do in France?

A line producer in France manages the practical side of a production: the schedule, the local budget and cost report, French crew contracts and payroll, locations, permits and the unit on set. On a foreign production they report to the foreign producer, who keeps creative and financial control. FixersInParis provides line producers across France, led by Zacharie Petit.

What is the difference between a line producer and a production manager?

The line producer is responsible for the budget and schedule as a whole and reports to the producer. The production manager runs the production office and day-to-day logistics under the line producer. On smaller shoots one person can do both.

Can you line produce a shoot outside Paris?

Yes, anywhere in metropolitan France. We have bases in Paris and Cannes, and Zacharie moves with productions that cross several regions, hiring local crew in each one to cut travel costs.

Do you also make the finished film?

FixersInParis line produces and services your production; you keep the project. If you want a company to take the brief and deliver the finished film, our sister company Prod is Prod handles executive production in Paris.

How early should we bring in a French line producer?

Before the schedule is locked. Permit lead times in France run from about two weeks for simple municipal shoots to two months or more for coastal, heritage or multi-authority shoots, and the schedule should be built around them. See what filming in France costs for the main budget drivers.
